What can I expect on my first
visit?
After a patient history is
completed, Dr. Woolston will sit down and discuss your health history.
Upon reviewing all pertinent information a spinal examination will be
performed. This will involve the doctor feeling your spine, looking
for vertebrae which may be misaligned or not moving properly. When
this occurs it can cause a subluxation. This subluxation means the vertebra
is interfering with the nerve that exits out from it thus slowing or
stopping the bodies natural ability to heal itself.
After the exam, x-rays are usually taken in the upright position which
allows precise measurements of these spinal misalignments. X-rays will
also allow the doctor to access if there are any reasons spinal adjustments
should not be done.
After correlating his findings from the exam and the x-rays the doctor
will determine the best chiropractic technique for adjusting that person.
Adjusting involves the doctor gently repositioning a vertebra with a
skillful thrust in the correct direction. This is usually done with minimal
discomfort and most people find the adjustment a pleasant experience.
Dr. Woolston may make certain suggestions which will help you hold
your adjustment and heal quicker. Your first visit will end with a
phone call that night from Dr. Woolston to check up on you and answer any
question you may have.
What methods do you use?
Dr. Woolston is well versed in
numerous chiropractic techniques. He is proficient in Diversified,
Gonstead, Thompson/Pierce, Palmer and activator methods. He
specializes in finding the correct technique for you and your spine.
How soon can I get an appointment?
Most patients can be seen
the same day.
Why do newborns get adjustments?
Even so called 'natural'
birthing methods can stress an infant's spine and developing nerve system.
The resulting irritation to the nerve system caused by spinal and cranial
misalignment can be the cause of many newborn health complaints.
Colic, breathing problems, nursing difficulties, sleep disturbances,
allergic reactions and chronic infections can often be traced to nerve
system stress. ~ Courtesy of
